How the maths works (and where the defaults come from)

They're seeded from public UK trade-body figures: FMB (builders), NICEIC (electricians), NHBF (hair / beauty), BVA (vets), AA Garage Guide (garages) and BT's 2023 Better Business Connected report on small-business call volume. They're typical, not exact — adjust the sliders to match your business.

Most UK SMBs talk about call volume by week (Monday–Saturday peaks) rather than per day, and the figure is more stable. The maths still uses 50 working weeks per year for the annual calculation, leaving 2 weeks for holidays / closures.

calls/week × missed % = missed/week. × 50 weeks = missed/year. × conversion % = lost jobs/year. × average job value = lost revenue/year. The "net recovered" figure subtracts Phena's £276/year Starter cost (12 × $29 ≈ £276 at typical FX).

Sense-check against your own numbers — open your call log, count missed calls in the last 7 days, and dial the calculator to match. The defaults err on the conservative side: industry studies suggest the 'lost' number is often higher in practice because callers go to a competitor rather than ringing back.

The £23 figure is the Starter plan ($29/mo at typical FX). Professional ($79/mo, ~£62) and Scale ($199/mo, ~£155) add features (voice cloning, more locations, priority support). For a busy multi-van or multi-chair business the higher tier still pays back inside the first month — re-run the maths with your actual chosen tier.
